Is rock-climbing more then just a competition and physical exercise? Keith James, one of Grahamstown’s climbing pioneers think so. He sees the beauty of a route and the beauty of the movements. He describes climbing as having “martial arts elements” which makes it more challenging than just running or walking in nature. Keith does not see the appeal of climbing walls and gyms over the opportunity to be outside.
Keith James came to Grahamstown in the 80s. He is a teacher at Kingswood and has introduced many of his students to the sport.
