Climb4HopeSA, for the third year in a row, will be hosting the Climb4Hope Climbing and Hiking fund raising event in the town of Montagu, to raise money for three very important and worthwhile causes.
DKMS (the Sunflower Fund): DKMS fights blood disorders, like Leukaemia, Aplastic Anaemia, Sickle Cell Disease to name a few, through the recruitment of blood stem cell donors and maintaining a registry of potential donors committed to helping anyone in need of a life-saving stem cell transplant. You can help save a life in helping to cover the cost of education and awareness about the need for and the process to become a blood stem cell donor as well as to cover the cost of the HLA tissue-typing test involved in the recruitment of donors.
Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary: Donkeys are widely used as beasts of burden in the cart-horse industry and many other industries, often working under huge duress and appalling conditions. They are very often over-worked, badly abused and malnourished.
They rely on the kindness of humans to hopefully be rescued from these horrendous and inhumane circumstances and housed in a sanctuary where they can be cared for and live a happy life. You can help save a donkey by supporting this worthy cause.
Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary provides a permanent home and loving care to destitute, rescued donkeys. They assist with rehabilitation of donkeys elsewhere and provide education & training.
AML (Animals Matter Langeberg): A volunteer run organisation based in the Langeberg area. Volunteers walk from home to home to identify animals which need help. In this way they find animals that would otherwise never receive proper care.
AML have successfully assisted with a feral cat ‘trap-sterilise-release’ program, and these cats are all being fed and cared for but can no longer produce more litters of kittens.
They are now operating at a clinical facility in Ashton where they do sterilisation surgeries and other minor procedures which are necessary, such as treating wounds. The drugs needed for the surgeries and also the medicines we need for the primary healthcare are a big expense.
Buy supporting this event you can help sick and destitute animals.
