The Blue Mountains West of Sydney had a hell of a summer and had been licked end to end by ferocious forest flames. What was once a deep green wilderness wonderland is now a charcoaled skin, leaving its sandstone walls standing naked.
Local climber, Zac Vertrees and his mate, Hugh Sutton, walked towards a scorched Bald Head, looking every bit its name. They were here to try Chemotherapy (26), a climb that they had picked as their Phoenix, as they attempted to rise out of these ashes.
