Over the last decade or so, Austrian powerhouse, Jakob Schubert has quickly moved through the ranks to become one of the best and most successful climbers in the world. He has amassed a slew of excellent competition results and has opened and repeated many of the hardest routes on the planet. He has also put a lot of time, dedication and energy into climbing and developing some of the hardest deep water solo routes and has shown a particular penchant for the phenomenal and breathtaking DWS climbs on the island of Mallorca, where he has just returned from after a successful trip.
When the last of a seven-part deep-water solo series was recently released, Jakob Schubert had kept his word. After the Olympic Games, the two-time bronze medallist wanted to return to Mallorca to round off the year with his favourite pastime surrounded by his favourite group of people, just as he did after Tokyo. Dubbed ‘the trip of a lifetime’ at the time, we wonder how the Austrian champion would sum up his latest trip to the Balearic paradise.
