UPDATE: Tafelberg and Wolfberg Cracks in the Cederberg is now officially OPEN!

Wolfberg-Open

The hike across the top to Wolfberg Arch is still closed, as the vegetation in that area has still not recovered sufficiently. And the numbers allowed up to and through the Cracks will also be controlled for the foreseeable future.

However, we can now enjoy climbing again at two of the best trad venues in the world.

Please note: even though the Wolfberg Cracks has been declared open by Cape Nature, the Cracks is on private land and due to the fragility of the mountainside since the fire, Dwarsrivier has decided to limit the amount of people up to the Cracks. This is why access is only available to guests at Sanddrif and for the past school holidays and then again from 1 December.
Even though the area is “open”, it still needs TLC, and the only way to do that is to limit numbers. Let’s hope that the vegetation grows back strongly, so that the area can be fully reopened soon.
